IN THE WEEK AHEAD ...

Our Questions You keep saying I should be saved.  But saved from what?

What to Read

In UNITED STATES CATECHISM  Chapter 8: The Saving Death and Resurrection of Christ

In your Bible:

Matthew 16:21-23 Jesus’ destiny was to go up to Jerusalem to suffer

Matthew 17:22-23 His second prophecy of the passion

Luke 9:23 Take up your cross and follow in my footsteps

1 John 4:9 We have life through the Son of God

Glossary

Redemption = Jesus, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, saved sinner (1 Tim 1:15) through his sacrifice on the cross. In general, the word “salvation” means the same.

Catholic Practice

In a Catholic home a crucifix is hung above the door or above a bed as a continuing reminder that Jesus saved us by giving up his life for us.  When reciting the Rosary a Catholic kisses the crucifix that is attached to the beads.

Checking on What I understand

There is a set of fun and stimulating quizzes that will confirm what you know and challenge what you do not yet know. Go to St. Edward Church website < www.saintedwardshelton.org> and click on “Becoming Catholic”.  Choose lesson eight and  do do the self-correcting on-line <quiz 8>
